My BFFL.

On September 8th 2012, my best friend married the love of her life. Who knew that being in a wedding is so much more different than attending a wedding...

When people ask me how it was, it's really hard for me to put it in words. I mean, I watched my best friend walk down the aisle arm in arm with her dad, say her vows of unconditional love in front of friends and family, and walk out for the first time as Mrs. Hernandez. And everything in between fit into place perfectly. It was definitely overwhelming to watch her dream day unfold, but it was especially special to me because of who Brittany is to me, and what she means to me.

I want to tell you a story.
On the last day of our sophomore year in high school, we said to each other, "Bye, we'll hang out during summer break," and turned to go home. But before I took two steps forward, she called for me. Now imagine those movie scenes where two people turn their backs on one another, but then turn around and everything goes into slow motion and everything around them becomes a blur. That's how I remember this moment.

I turned around, and after a few seconds of hesitation, she said, "I love you!" I was shy and timid, and softly whispered "I love you too," and we both quickly turned around to go home. When I turned around, I hugged my yearbook as hard as I could, so that I could hold back my tears.

You see, Brittany was one of the first people to tell me they love me. Having lived in Asia for most of my life, saying those three words was almost as rare as hearing a nun curse. It took my family years of warming up to courageously say those words to each other! Brittany taught me how to be bold, and how to be fearless in expressing your feelings for someone you love. Unlike some people, who throw around those three words simply to express gratitude or use as a positive reinforcement, she taught me how to cherish them, and nourish them in our hearts. Knowing how big and deep Brittany's heart is for those she love, her marriage to Angel means that much more to me. It makes me so wildly happy--almost euphoric--to know that she is married to the love of her life.

So. If you ask me how the wedding was, you will hear all sorts of answers about how beautiful the day was, how I cried like a baby, and how happy everyone was. But my words will never, ever be able to fully explain  to you how it was. Seriously, our eyes and hearts are the best cameras in the world. That's why we can never find words to describe something so perfect and beautiful...

My phone's camera quality sucks, but here are some moments I tried to record...

Champagne before the real deal!

Brittany and I (:

I firmly believe that God places specific people in our lives at designated times for a reason. He certainly knew what he was doing when he placed Brittany in my life right when he did!

It was my utmost privilege and honor to be a part of your wedding, and is definitely a blessing to be a part of your life then, now, and forever on. I love you so much Brittany Pic- oops, Hernandez, I mean. May God continue to bless your life, now with Angel as your eternal companion and lover all in one. Congratulations again!
